A Review of the Playmobil Hospital

 Dear Readers,

I hesitated getting this Playmobil Hospital because I thought it was too big but is turned out to be one of the most popular with my children among all their toys.

This is the Large Playmobil Hospital (Model 70910)

The entrance didn't have anything but a blue pot with flowers so I added a welcome desk.

The waiting room is well stocked with magazine, a coffee maker and a vending machine too.

The Emergency Room is full of equipment, including a resuscitation machine which you can light up.  However, the light above the examination bed does not light up.  I added light kits from Playmobil in the corner to brighten the room for the picture.

On the top floor, there is a bathroom.

The hospital includes two doctors and two patients with beds, blankets, and tons of accessories like heart monitor, infusion unit, medicine chest, etc.

I added a Radiologist Set (70196) which is very cool because you can slide the bed in and out of the X-ray machine.

I added a floor to the hospital to create a children's ward in the middle.

The rooms are not set in stone: the children often change them like adding a kids play area or a cafeteria if they want to.

It can get a bit dark in the bottom floors so I added a lighting system from one of the Playmobil dollhouse.  I know the lamps are very colorful for a hospital but it is so much brighter this way.

One of the coolest feature of the hospital is the elevator which you can push up and down to access all the floors.

The hospital only comes with two doctors but the others sets I have purchased included many other healthcare workers so the hospital crew is currently a lot bigger (I took the picture below before we got some more figures so there are even more nurses and doctors now).

I am listing below the other Playmobil sets I used to complement the hospital:
  • Doctor and Patient (70079)
  • Radiologist (70196)
  • Children's Hospital Room (70192)
  • Patient in Wheelchair (70193)
  • Children`s Medical Area (6295)
  • Rescue Ambulance (5681)
  • Floor Supplement for Large Hospital (9848)
You can also get a rescue helicopter and helipad but I did not buy them.  Maybe in the future (^_^).

All in all, this is a really wonderful Playmobil set but as usual, it took many hours to build and you would need to buy additional sets if you want to add more play possibilities.  But it was a well-thought hospital with so many realistic accessories and features.

A Review of the Playmobil Small Animal Boarding

 Dear Readers,

There is another Playmobil playset quite similar to the Purrfect Cat Stay Boarding: it's the Small Animal Boarding Set.

The structure is almost the same: the Cat Stay Boarding building is slightly bigger than the one for the Small Animal Boarding.

Cat Boarding on the Left and Small Animal Boarding on the right.

The figures are different too: instead of a woman and little girl, this set comes with a boy and a girl.  The figures for the Cat Boarding set wear boots whereas the ones for the Small Animal Boarding set wear regular shoes.

The animals are also different.  Instead of cats only, here we have rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs.

In the garden, instead of a tree for the cats to climb, there is a hollow tree trunk where the animals can hide, a wheelbarrow, a feeding bowl with vegetable, a bucket with rake and shovel.  The swinging glass door on the side of the building allows the pets to go into the garden.

The inside of the building and the animal accessories are different as well; there is a hamster wheel, a terrarium and a shelf.  There is a water dispenser for the animals and stickers to decorate the building.

My favorite thing about this set is the terrarium and the cute hamster wheel.  The hamster can remain in the same position while you turn the wheel (because there is a peg underneath to keep it in place).

Do you prefer this to the Cat Boarding Set?

A Review of the Playmobil Suburban Dollhouse

Dear Readers,

I love dollhouses.  I am obsessed with them.  Over the  years, I have accumulated quite a few of different sizes.  It all started with a dollhouse from Calico Critters (aka Sylvanian Families).  Their dollhouses are very sturdy and beautiful but they were too big for some of my figures so I decided to get a Playmobil dollhouse.

I started with the Take Along Modern Dollhouse (5167) which was a very good starter choice.  It came all furnished with plenty of accessories and a family too.  It was small enough to fit on a bookshelf and clean up was easy and quick: just shove everything back into the dollhouse (^_^).

But it was soon too small for all the figures I had so I looked for a bigger house.  Playmobil had released many models of big dollhouses but there are only three presently sold on their online store (in my country):

  1. The Large Dollhouse (70205)
  2. The Suburban Dollhouse (4279)
  3. The Modern Luxury Mansion (5574)

Each of them are much bigger than the Take Along Dollhouse and you can buy floor extension to make them even bigger.  I chose the Suburban Dollhouse because I like that design the most.

I also purchased the following sets:

  • 7387 Floor Extension
  • 7388 Corner Extension
  • 7389 Corner Floor Extension
  • 7390 Light Kit 1
  • 7391 Light Kit 2

As with all Playmobil toys, you have to build them.  It took me about 6 hours to build the dollhouse with all the extensions and lighting system.

The dollhouse set includes four figures (a mom, dad, son and daughter), a dog, a table, 2 chairs, a grill, a tray, bread, sausage and meat.

That is really not a lot of furniture but fortunately I have other Playmobil furniture sets.

Each room is very spacious and easy for hands to access.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to setting it up.

The walls are bare so I will eventually add some mirrors, paintings or other decorations.

With the floor and corner extensions, I had enough space to create a sewing room.

The roof on the top floor has windows that you can open as well.

There is a balcony and a nice patio on the side of the house.  The staircases are really well placed because they don't block hands from accessing the inside of the house.

The front balconies have glass doors and the side balcony has a regular door.  They can all close and open easily.  I especially like the glass doors.

This dollhouse has many cool features: windows that you can open both ways, a roof terrace, balconies and a retractable awning on the top balcony, a doorbell that chimes, and lights with a functioning switch.

All in all I am very happy with this dollhouse and I don't regret choosing this model.  Here below are my list of pros and cons for this dollhouse:

Pros:

  • Very sturdy
  • Beautiful design
  • Lots of play potential
  • Easy to clean
  • Includes a set of 4 figures
  • Clear instructions

Cons:

  • Takes a long time to assemble
  • Does not come with many furniture
  • Have to buy extensions + lights separately

Do you like this house?  Do you have a favorite Playmobil dollhouse?

A Review of the Playmobil Purrfect Stay Cat Boarding

Dear Readers,

I opened a new Playmobil set this weekend.  It's the Purrfect Stay Cat Boarding.

It is a rather small building but it includes a lot of very cute accessories and two Playmobil figures that I didn't have yet.

Below is the description from the Playmobil online store:

-The interior and exterior area are connected by a swinging pet door.

- In the interior, a suspended branch connects several climbing and hiding places.

- Some of the included cats can hide in the caves.

- The cat litter box can be cleaned with the cleaning kit (shovel and bucket).

- Outside, a large climbing tree with lounge chairs invites the cats to romp and relax.

- The included label sheet contains ten sets of paws, which can be used to decorate the walls of the building as desired.

- One of the kittens or the gray, seated cat can be transported in the portable cat basket.

Figures: 1 woman, 1 girl Animals: 2 cats standing, 1 cat sitting, 1 cat lying, 1 kitten sitting, 1 kitten walking, 1 mouse, 1 bird, 1 butterfly Accessories: 1 cat board, 1 cat house, 1 branch with cat toys, 1 climbing tree with lying boards, 1 shovel, 2 tins of cat food, 1 fishbone, 2 grass, 1 hair bow, 2 cat play sticks, 2 cat play balls, 1 ball of wool, 1 portable cat basket, 1 double bowl, 1 cat basket, 6 bar fences, 1 lattice fence, 1 box, 1 bucket

Dimensions (LxWxH) in: 12.6 x 6.7 x 5.1
Recommended for ages 4 and up.

It was very easy to assemble and the inside is spacious enough for many cats.  I especially like the "caves" attached to the inside wall and the branch.

There is a very nice backyard big enough for the tree and for the cats to play around.  I added a few more cats from other Playmobil sets and there was still room to spare.  The tree with the platforms is very cleverly designed.  You can tilt the platforms.

The set comes with stickers you can apply where you want on the building.  The fence is very easy to snap together as with most fences from Playmobil.  The red color really stands out and I think I could use it for other buildings as well like a dollhouse.

This building is quite smaller than I expected but it has the advantage of fitting nicely on a bookshelf so there won't be a problem with finding a big storage space for this toy.

The kids really like this set and had fun building it and setting it up with the accessories.  Do you like the Playmobil Purrfect Stay Cat Boarding?

Re-ment Hamtaro Room

 Dear Readers,

A few months ago I found out Re-ment had released a collection about Hamtaro.  The hamster character was from a cute Japanese manga and anime.

The Re-ment set is called "Hamtaro Room" and featured 8 sets of miniatures, including a fridge, a bed, and numerous little house and food items.

It was just too cute to pass so I got it as soon as I could and displayed them in the Fairy Treehouse from Playmobil.

But the treehouse was a little small so I tried to fit them in the Li'l Woodzeez Acorn Treehouse.  This one has a light on the first floor and next to the front door.

The Acorn Treehouse came with its own set of furniture and accessories.  I love the leaf chairs and table!  But the cups and small accessories are too big for the Hamtaro figures.

It's not really a problem because the Re-ment box came with their own cups and food items!

I think the Re-ment Hamtaro Room could possible fit in different dollhouses as well like the ones from Playmobil or Calico Critters (Sylvanian Families).

What do you think about this miniature collection?

Happy Easter!

Dear Readers,

I hope you will have a very happy Easter and a good weekend to relax!

It's still rather difficult for many to have an Easter Egg Hunt in the present pandemic but I hope you can still decorate some eggs :)

The Playmobil Easter Bunnies are always fun to play with and this year for the drawing props, I have the Re-ment Collection of Sakura Color Products.  It's a really neat collection if you like miniatures!   Happy Easter!

Bonjour!

Spring Story

It was Spring finally!  After a long winter, Mrs. Rabbit opened all the windows of her cozy house and started her Spring cleaning.  She had her hands full.  Between the laundry and gardening, she ran out of time to gather the ingredients for dinner. So she asked her children to pick up a carrot and some honey for tonight’s meal.

A few hours later, Bunny and Bunbun came back with a big diamond.

“What is this?” she asked.

"It's a carat!" they replied.

Mrs. Rabbit fell down from the shock.

“Not a CARAT, darlings, a CARROT!” she said.

So they left again.  Before the sun went down, the brothers came back pulling a nice plump carrot.

Mr. Rabbit and the children collected honey from the beehive.  At last they had gathered all the ingredients for a family meal.
