Usaggie and Jossie Dolls from Petworks

 Dear Readers,

Do your remember my little rabbit dolls called Usaggie?  I have added another one to my Petworks doll family!  And I have also added a girl doll called Jossie.

Petworks Doll Division has released a new pair of dolls in November 2020: Usaggie 038 and Jossie 017.  They both have Anime-eyes. They are sold without clothes and shoes.

Picture from Petworks

They are packaged very simply with only a thin cardboard box opened in the front and covered with plastic wrapping.

The package includes a pattern for a dress and overall pants with instructions in Japanese only.  I am showing you the front and back of the pattern.  It was the same pattern sheet for each doll.

Jossie has the same type of body as an Usaggie so she can wear the same clothes and shoes.  They both have a boy body (unlike the Odeco-chan and Nikki dolls who have a girl body).

But unlike Usaggie and Kumabolo which are anthropomorphic dolls, Jossie has a human head and comes with rooted hair.   Her hair is very soft and easy to brush.  She also has white painted-on "underwear".

These dolls stain easily so I usually remove their clothes and shoes once I am done with the photos.

She is a delight to pose and my child loves that her Odeco-chan doll now has a little girl doll as friend.

My Blue Usaggie

Dear Readers,

Usaggie Nº 036 was released by Petworks Doll Division this year.  She is pastel blue and her cheeks are dusted with a slight pink blush.  A very cute bunny that has now joined my collection of Usaggie dolls.

I starting buying  hair bands and bows for her ears (^_^)

She is wearing a Middie Blythe dress.

They all have the same body type so it's easy for the Usaggie and Kumabolo to share clothes and shoes.  The shoes are from Petworks and they fit all the following dolls: Odeco-chan, Nikki, Usaggie, Kumabolo, Jossie, Hitsujii (also called Hitszie).

I found some more clothes for them in the past few months.  Mostly Madeleine doll clothes from Eden and clothes for Middie Blythe on Etsy.  Not all clothes for Middie Blythe will fit though because the Middie have thinner arms so you can't buy tops with long sleeves.

They are wearing Madeleine clothes from Eden.

I have two more dolls from Petworks coming next month and I can't wait to show them to you!

I wish you all a great weekend!

Odeco-Chan and Nikki

Dear Readers,

It has been a long time since I wrote on my blog.  Health issues have been plaguing my family and it was difficult for me to get back into writing again.  But everyone is doing better nowadays and so I want to continue writing about my hobbies and things that spark my interest.  Sharing my experience with others makes me feel happy and I hope you will feel that happiness too!

I have quite a few more dolls in my collection since my last blog post so I won't be able to cover all of them in one single blog post but I'll start with the more recent acquisition: Odeco-chan and Nikki with printed eyes from Petworks Doll Division.

Odeco-chan is a girl and Nikki is a cat.  They have the same type of body as the Usaggie and Kumabolo dolls but they have a girl body instead (Usaggie and Kumabolo have a boy body).  Basically, the only difference is that Odeco-chan and Nikki have breasts.  And Nikki has a long tail.

They are usually sold with eyes that can close if you lay them horizontally (aka sleep eyes) but the dolls I bought have painted/printed eyes so they can't close their eyes.

The great thing about these dolls is that they can share the same clothes and shoes as my Usaggie and Kumabolo dolls.  They are about 20 cm tall so they can share the same clothes as dolls such as Strawberry Shortcake and other dolls in that size.

I purchased my dolls and the shoes especially made for them (called Deconiki) directly from the official website of Petworks Global Store. The website is in English and is very easy to navigate.  They ship internationally and the shipping cost is about $20 USD minimum via EMS.  I don't get paid to post this information by the way.  You may be able to buy the dolls from a local store near you or from another seller.

I am so happy with my present collection of dolls from Petworks. I hope to get more of them eventually.  Do you like Odeco-chan and Nikki dolls?

Usaggie Dolls

Dear Readers,

A few months ago I decided to get a new type of doll, Usaggie Model 028, which was released on March 2016 by Petworks, the same company that makes Momoko dolls.  I was intrigued by these cute rabbits and I didn't quite know if I would like them.

"Usagi" means rabbit in Japanese and these Usaggie dolls have the head of a rabbit and share the same body as Odeco-chan and Nikki dolls.   They also share the same body as Kumabolo dolls which are the bear figures that Petworks also produces.

You can read more about the dolls created by Petwork on their official website Petworks Doll Division.  It's called "Doll Division" because Petworks is actually a Software company but they also have a division dedicated to make dolls (^_^).

The Usaggie dolls are all sold without any clothes and the ears and head plate are usually not installed on the doll so you have to put them on the doll yourself (although the most recent model I received did have her ears installed on her already as you can see in the picture below).  Included in the box are two patterns to make a dress and overalls.

I bought Ussagie 028 on the website Ami Ami but I know older models of Usaggie are also available on the Petworks Store Global when still in stock and on Ebay as well.

I must say I was underwhelmed at first sight but once I gave her some clothes, I liked her very much and I decided to buy more Usaggie dolls and one Kumabolo doll :)

The shoes that can fit them are from (again, not all shoes will fit):

- DecoNiki shoes (official shoes made by Petworks)
- Strawberry Shortcake
- Licca
- Only Hearts Club

I bought 8 pairs of DecoNiki Shoes from the Petworks Store Global and there were quite affordable at only 648 Japanese Yen per pair.  They fit Usaggie and Kumabolo the best and I love that there were geta (shoes for kimono) available as well!

Since I did not have any official clothing items from Petworks for my Usaggie, I tried many type of doll clothes on her.   Here below are some of the outfits that do fit Usaggie more or less.  The fit is not perfect but some pieces can work:

- Vi and Va
- Picco Neemo
- Madeline from Eden
- Licca
- Only Hearts Club
- BFC Ink

Vi and Va dresses are a perfect fit but the shoes from Strawberry Shortcake can be sometimes too big.

Dresses from Picco Neemo are too tight (they won't close in the back) but look good from the front.  The shirt if from BFC Ink dolls which are now discontinued but fit Kumabolo like a glove.

They can also fit most Madeline outfits from Eden.

They also fit some Licca clothes and shoes.

They also fit Only Hearts Club clothes like the ballet outfit!

But I think they look best in custom-made clothes that fit them perfectly.  I bought dresses for them on Etsy.  They can wear the same dresses as Middie Blythe dolls too but not the same pants!

Do you like Usaggie and Kumabolo dolls?

Lori OG Loft with Japanese furniture

Dear Readers,

Do you remember my Lori OG Loft dollhouse?  I liked the modern feel it has but I wanted to give it a different look with other types of furniture.

The dollhouse fits best with 5-6 inches dolls and 1:8 scale miniature so I used pieces from Re-ment and futon beds from Azone Pure Neemo.

It was a fun project to do and although it seems strange to pair a western-style modern house with traditional Japanese furniture, I like the juxtaposed effect.

I took pictures with my two new dolls, Usaggie and Kumabolo made by Petworks (the same company that makes Momoko dolls).  I will tell you more about them in my next blog post.

Note: you can buy the Lori Loft at Target for about $50 USD or even cheaper if there is a sale.  I noticed some sellers on Amazon and Ebay trying to sell it for 3 times that price and using (without my permission) the pictures I took and posted previously on my blog (>_<)

miWorld Mrs. Fields Cookie Shop

Dear Readers,

This weekend was over in a blink.  I really wanted to make a full review of the miWorld Mrs. Fields Cookie Shop because so many people had requested information about it.  I squeezed in as many pictures as I could take in-between cooking, cleaning and watching the kids.  Anyhow, I wished I had more time to do it but many projects are scheduled so this will be a very concise review!

Dimensions: 7 3/4 inches wide and 8 inches tall (or 19.5 cm wide and 20 cm tall).

The counters and stool were in between 1:12 scale and 1:6.

The food items were a little bigger than 1:12 scale.  They are comparable to a lot of the Re-ment minis I have but not as detailed and are made from rather flimsy plastic.  The trays and cookies are very very thin (as in almost flat).

The set is packaged very securely in a colorful cardboard box with pictures of other mall sets.

The content is listed on the front of the box: 2 wall pieces, 1 floor piece, 31 accessory pieces.

The side of the box gives a more detailed account of the content:

  • 12 chocolate chip cookies
  • 6 sugar butter cookies
  • 1 plate
  • 1 hot chocolate cup
  • 1 cookie cake
  • 1 cookie display and display cover
  • 3 cookies trays
  • 1 cash register
  • 1 display counter and display cover
  • 1 counter
  • 1 bar stool
  • 2 walls / 1 base

Not mentioned on the box but it should be noted: there are stickers provided to complete the look.  Those stickers do not stay put and they come off constantly while I was taking pictures.

VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE WITHOUT IT, THERE WILL BE A GAP BETWEEN THE WALLS: there is a tiny piece to connect the top of the walls.  Included is also a long piece to be used if you want to connect another store to yours.

Content is packaged tightly inside the box.

And here is what it looks like once set up.  It looks pretty but do you notice something?

My set is INCOMPLETE!  The cookie cake, hot chocolate cup, 2 chocolate chip cookies and 1 sugar cookies ARE MISSING FROM MY PACKAGE!  And I am sure it didn't roll down the floor because I emptied the content in the box itself to make sure I would not lose any piece. - UPDATE: THE MISSING ITEMS WERE IN THE BOX GLUED to the outside shell!  Look at my 2nd picture in the clear round bubble! Silly silly me! >.<

But fortunately for me, I did buy two Collector Packs ($2.99 each) when I purchased the Cookie Shop.  Each pack contains different items to complete your Cookie Shop.

One pack had 6 triple chocolate cookies, a bag, a pumpkin chiller (the cup with the cream on top), and the other pack had one cookie cake, a box to go and 2 small hot chocolate cups.

Now my set looks somewhat more complete.  The set is fine but the bar stool is useless because it's so flimsy.  Nothing can sit on it or it would topple over (well except maybe a tiny minuscule item like a micro lalaloopsy).

Here is a close-up.  Can you see how thin those cookies are?

But the most pressing question: how does it look with dolls in it?  Here below are pictures that will speak for themselves.

It won't fit well with the  Sylvanian Families :/

This Mimiworld doll is so cute with this background!

Yikes!

Don't mind Stacie's weird pose.  It was the only wait to make her stand.

Miki-chan and Maki-chan are a good size for this store.

Princess Tulip is grumpy: "You already know I am too small for this..."

Poor Madeline is much too big!

It's getting more interesting now.  Can you imagine a big mall for those darling Strawberry Shortcake dolls?  This is a perfect setting for them!

Ah jackpot!  Of all the dolls, the one that suits this set the most is a Picco Neemo from Azone that I had paired with a Little DAL's head (do you recognize Lady Foxy)?

I apologize for her terrible hair day but I hurriedly put her on that body so I could show you the size comparison.  She didn't even have clothes of her own yet so I grabbed a Kelly dress because it was the only thing that seemed to fit her.

Overall, I am happy with the miWorld Mrs. Fields Cookie Shop.  For $14.99, you get a colorful room box and actual furniture and miniature food.  But let's see the pros and cons in detail.

Pros:
  • Affordable price
  • Very easy setup
  • Nice counters
  • Glossy stickers
  • Colorful walls
  • Great for 5-6 inches dolls
  • Accurate miniature of the shop

Cons:
  • Incomplete package (my bad, I found them!)
  • Flimsy bar stool
  • Cheap plastic miniature
  • Stickers do not stay put

Would I buy another set?  I would.  I want to try a set which has a chair and not a bar stool to see if it would be better.  Apart from the missing items, it was a very nice roombox full of realistic-looking minis.  The counters alone can be very useful for other dioramas, especially if you don't use the stickers and leave them blank.

When I was a teenager, my favorite place to meet up with my friends was the mall.  I have no doubt children would love to re-create the mall environment with these mini sets.  My own niece has bought her own this weekend.

I have a few dolls that don't fit in any 1:12 or 1:6 scale diorama so the miWorld Mall is a very good option.  I am thinking about gifting them to my daughter who loves Strawberry Shortcake so much.  But it will have to wait until she is at least 7 years old (which is the recommended age) because I think this set is too detailed for her now.

From the point of view of a miniature collector, I am not too impressed by the cheap quality of the trays and cookies but I feel I got what I paid for so I am not disappointed.

The scale is totally strange and it does not fit many of my dolls.  But it will fit my Picco Neemo and other 5-6 inches dolls like the Ai-Dolls and other BJD tiny dolls.  In case you are wondering,  I could not feature my Ai-Doll Phlox today because I couldn't get her to wear her dress (I'll talk about that another day LOL).

I hope my review was helpful to you and will answer some of the questions you had concerning this miWorld miniature mall.  So what do you think after you saw the pictures and read my post?  Will you go ahead and buy it for yourself (or for your children)?

EDIT: I looked over my pictures this morning and noticed the cookie cake and missing items in front of the package in the clear plastic bubble!!!  After work I checked the box again sure enough, it was still glued to the outside of the box in that clear bubble!  How silly of me!

Disclaimer: All opinions are my own. I was not paid or received gifts to write this or mention any stores or website. You may find a better store in your area.

Hina-chan in a Barbie House

Dear Readers,

How was your weekend?  I can't believe it's already August!  We are counting the days until school starts again!  Most of my days out of the office were spent with the kids making the most of our little time together.  I had very few moments to spend on my hobbies but I did manage to snap a few photos a week ago.

I wanted to display some of the miniature pastries that Chloe had sent me.  They are displayed below on the coffee table of Hina-chan's home.  She is one of Licca's friend that I dressed up in clothes from Only Hearts Club.   Those clothes fit Licca dolls to a T.  They are much cheaper than the Takara fashion packs and they come in many different styles as well.  I'll have to show you my Licca dolls in those outfits in another post.

But for now, here below are some photos of Hina-chan in her Barbie "My House" folding dollhouse.  I got this house at a garage sale for only $10 + a bunch of furniture.  It was super dirty and I had to scrape off all the damaged stickers and scrub the dollhouse for 3 days O_O.   I still need to add some painting or wallpaper to the walls.

Here is the kitchen.  You'll see miniature items from Re-ment, Orcara, Barbie, Mini Lalaloopsy, and Bratz.  It took me forever to set up this kitchen but I am not happy with it.  I hate it. It's so disorganized and I need to re-think my display.  I will probably swap the furniture and appliances for others pieces and see how it goes from there.

The Re-ment stove is my favorite piece of the kitchen.  I love the eye-popping red color.  The fridge is from a Barbie playset.

Here is a close-up of the stove.  All the cabinet doors open and there is even a broiler!  My favorite miniature item is the soap bottle and the tiny gloves!  Well I like the spice rack too.   It's from Re-ment Fairy Tales Tableware Collection which I blogged about HERE.

And here is a full view of the "apartment".  You don't see the bathroom or bedroom because they are on the other side of the walls.  Which I have not yet decorated.

Hopefully I will have some time this week to write a few more blog posts.  Have a great week everybody!
