A Lovely Miniature World

Dear Readers.

My baby was very ill these past two days so I hardly slept.  She woke up often in the middle of night, unable to sleep because of her stuffy nose. And I was unable to rest, staying awake and worried , because of her fever.  This resulted in a major headache that prevented me to do anything constructive this weekend.  My husband actually cooked for us which is a good thing because he is a better cook than I am.

But there was one positive that happened: a marvelous book that I had ordered did arrive just in time for the weekend!  I knew it would be an awesome book even before I got it but I waited until I had it in my hands so I can write a proper review.

I found out about the book thanks to Jennifer from PlushPussyCat, who introduced me to a fantastic website: Mouses Houses by Maggie Rudy.  Maggie has created a miniature world with mice living in houses that she has created herself made with all kind of recycled material.

It is truly a magical world.  Her photography is incredibly beautiful!  I did not hesitate to buy her book THE HOUSE THAT MOUSE BUILT which I ordered from Amazon.com.

The picture above is from Amazon and I don't want to post any of my own because I feel none of my pictures would do any justice to this beautiful book!

If you want to get an idea of what kind of world she has created, I would recommend browsing her blog Mouses Houses because it reflects very closely the spirit and charm you will find within her book.

The story is simple but oh so lovely.  The rhymes are easy to read and a delight for children to hear.  And the biggest pleasure is to admire the miniature objects in each pictures.  You will be amazed at the author's creative genius!  She transformed so many common and otherwise uninteresting objects into miniature furniture and ornaments, making you wished you could live in such adorable little houses.

Her mice are lovable characters.  They show so much emotions in their features and movements!  I just couldn't get over how much emotions they could convey in one single picture.

The only negative thing I could say about this book is that it is too short.  I wanted to read more about her mice and more about their world!  I heard there will be a second book in the making so I will be impatiently waiting for it to be released!

In the mean time, I console myself by reading her blog because she does post pictures of her mice on it and she also talks about the process of creating the miniature props she uses!  I feel very inspired thanks to her!

Have a great week everybody!
