The Art of Yogisya

 Dear Readers,

I was intrigued by the illustrations of Yogisya so I purchased his book "The Art of Yogisya (Japanese Edition) in paperback format (softcover).

I did not know about this artist until I saw her illustrations on Instagram. I was instantly charmed by her mesmerizing drawings and bought her book. The following pictures of her book were shared on the store website where I bought so I think it's alright if I show them to you.

This book is about fairy tales but also about other stories like a play from Shakespeare and even a poem (from Edgar Allan Poe).  The text is in Japanese only, but I think you can translate nowadays with some of the apps available with smartphones.

Her drawings are dainty, inspiring and absolutely magical because it makes my heart happy just to look at them.

I don't know much more about this artist but you can find her on various social media platforms:

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yogisya/

Website: https://yogisya.art/

Blog: https://yogisya.art/blog/

Work: https://yogisya.art/work/

I think she has also illustrated a planner with the theme of Harry Potter.

Do you like her illustrations?  If you know of other books by her, please let me know!

I wish you all a beautiful weekend wherever you are!

MimiWorld Dolls

Dear Readers,

Do you make emotional driven purchase?  I sure do.  Once I forgot to bid on a set of Petite Jenny dolls which I really wanted because they were so rare and usually quite expensive.  I was so upset that I went ahead and bought somewhat similar looking dolls >.<.

I ended up with 5 little dolls from a South Korean company called MimiWorld.  The dolls I bought are the small size dolls but the company also offers taller Barbie-size dolls.  MimiWorld Official Website is HERE.

The small dolls are usually priced at $15 including shipping.  But sometimes they are put on auctions and you can get them for about $8 each.  In my case,  I bought them as a 5-pack Fairy Tales Set for only $7 each including shipping (all the way from South Korea!).

I don't recommend anybody buying on emotional impulse because they sometimes result from bad financial choice and/or regrets.  But to be honest, in this case, I was very happy getting the dolls!  Here below is a close-up of each of the box.

Rapunzel

Alice in Wonderland

Snow White

Little Red Riding Hood

Cinderella

They are very pretty, their costumes are so cute and they have interesting accessories.  For this blog post, I will only review the Cinderella doll.  Here she is out of her box but still attached to her backdrop.  She is tied by three ties.  One behind her hair, one at her waist, and the last one at the hem of her dress.  She comes with shoes, a headband, dress, underwear, a hairbrush and a mirror.

She was rather easy to unbox but it was more tedious than for Licca's sisters or the Petit Jenny dolls.

Here she is completely unboxed.

Her dress is so long you can't see her shoes so I lifted her dress up to show you her "glass" slippers.

Here hair is tied in the back in pony tails with big rubber rubber bands.

The dress is beautiful and retains its shape well.

Similarly to the Licca and Petit Jenny dolls, the garments are closed with a velcro closure.

The tag says "Made in China" and "Mimi World".

The headband is made of fabric and is tied by a rubber band.

I chose to unbox Cinderella because she reminds me so much of Miki-chan!

But the Mimiworld doll's face-up is less detailed than the Licca's doll.  Notice how Miki-chan's eyes are much more defined and her cheeks are more rosy.

Their naked body also looks almost identical.

And Cinderella has a flaw on her body like this white speck on her right arm.  It's not a flat blemish, it's like a slight bump.  Her body's seams are not as smooth as Miki-chan's.

Their feet are the same size.

And their shoes are the same size too but Miki-chan's shoes are softer and bend more easily.

I made them swap clothes and you can see they fit each other's clothes perfectly.

I do like the Mimiworld Cinderella very much because she has nice feature and very great hair!  If you remember, I had a bad experience with my Aoi doll and I disliked her thin and crinkly hair!

A major difference I see between the two dolls is the scent!  The MimiWorld doll has a strong chemical scent that I hope will disappear now that I have unboxed her.  It's unpleasant but not overwhelming.  The price of the doll is cheap enough that I would probably by another one but I must admit, it would be more for the clothes than for the doll itself.

Re-ment Fairy Tales Tableware Collection

I remember my first box of Re-ment miniatures.  I decided to buy a blind box just to see how it is in real life instead of shiny photos and I have been hooked ever since.  Pictures actually do not do justice to this brand because it is such high quality.

A few months ago, I saw the Re-ment Fairy Tales Tableware Collection and I just about fell off my chair.  C'mon now, a miniature collection about Fairy Tales AND tea/tableware?   Re-ment creators were definitely in tune with my heart's desire!  There are 10 different sets in the collection and I loved them all so I decided to buy a full set instead of tempting my chance with a blind box.  I took a picture of each set so you can see them too!

1. Alice's Tea Party

2. Mushroom Forest

3. Fresh Kitchen Field

4. Japanese Tea Set

5. Blue Bird's Tea Party

6. Witches Dinner

7. The Tree of Fairy Tales
(3 photos for this set so you can see the details on the mug)

8. Trip to Grandma's House

9. Magic Forest Tumblers

10. Twittering in the Kitchen

As with all Re-ment miniatures, you can open the lids of each box or cup and the details are astounding!  I can't describe how happy I am that this collection was still available at minimal price.   I bought the full set on Ebay to save on shipping fee.  But if you are lucky enough to find a store that sells Re-ment, you will be able to save a buckload on the shipping cost!

Mes plus belles histoires

My darling friend Laura from Formule Blonde sent me a beautiful French book last week: Mes plus belles histoires du soir (Editions Pierre de Soleil).  There are 42 stories in total, separated in two sections : 1) fairy tales 2) bed time stories.
The book is filled with beautiful color drawings by different illustrators. You have the classic fairy tales like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the bean stalk, Rapunzel, etc, but also other tales that I rarely see in children's story books like Tristan and Iseult.

I love that there are so many color illustrations! They fill the whole page or half a page for each story.  The kids were very inspired by the pictures and started drawing after each story telling.  This is a big book so the size of the illustration is huge!

She stories are short (1 to 3 pages maximum) and they are well written.  But Remember it's an adaptation (aimed for kids) of famous tales . If you are a purist and want the complete non-abridged version of each tale, look away; this book is not for you!  I think it is the perfect adaptation for small children whose attention span won't last 20 pages or more.

It was nice reading in French to my boy and explaining to him the vocabulary.  The kids also loved the illustrations!!! Last night we read the story of the Wolf and the 7 kids and we had much fun trying to find their hiding spots in the house.

Also, many stories were new to me so it is a pleasure to read and discover new tales!  Thank you darling Laura for such a thoughtful and sweet present! ♥
