Of Beignets and Ducks

Dear Readers,

Did you have a good weekend? On Sunday I didn't want to do anything stressful.  I had such a long and tiresome week that I just wanted to relax come Sunday.  So we went out to a Café to eat beignets.  Beignets are fluffy pillows of fried cinnamon dough (like donuts but more chewy) covered with powdered sugar and/or honey.

We went to a nearby lake for a walk.  There is a picnic area nearby and it's shaded under many trees so it's a great place to bring some food and eat outside.

And there are so many ducks!  As soon as they see somebody, they swim over in hopes of getting some food.  We didn't bring any for them yesterday but I'll remember to take some bread with me next time.

I survived my first doll photo contest by the way!  I will write more in details tomorrow about the first challenge! :)

I wish you all a very good week!!!

  1. Hi Jane, So many places here say not to feed the ducks bread. Apparently it isn't healthy for them. One place sells a healthy natural mix for them, but I can't remember what was in it. Maybe you can Google it. So glad you could see the ducks and eat the beignets, though. The beignets look yummy! I can't wait to see your photo shoot pictures--yay!!!!!!! xo Jennifer

  2. Beignets are the BEST! I discovered a recipe for vegan beignets recently, very yummy, and animal friendly. Anyway, glad you got to see the ducks and relax a bit. Congrats on the photo shoot, you did it! Can't wait to see the photos.

    1. Please share your recipe when you have a chance! My nephew is highly allergic to most food so it's always great to find new vegan recipe!

  4. I love beignets - French junk food is so much better than the English equivalent :D I love feeding ducks too, I think my oldest memory is going to the Oxford University Park and throwing bread for the ducks there :)

    1. I think Beignets are from New Orleans (I may be wrong!) I never heard of them until I came to the USA.

    1. The beignets were very good but only once in a while is enough! It's too sweet and too much oil otherwise to indulge too often.
