Petite Blythe Wake Up Kiss

Dear Readers,

I have a new addiction: Petite Blythe Dolls!

I thought I would never be interested in them but then I saw some of the Petite Blythe on Instagram and I fell in love with their cute face and sleepy eyes.

Lucky for me, I didn't have to spend a fortune to buy one.  My dear friend Jennifer from PlushPussyCat blog let me trade one of my doll for her brand new Petite Blythe Wake Up Kiss doll!

This doll has everything I was looking for : straight black hair, vibrant eye color and a sweet face up!  Wake-up Kiss is inspired from the fairy tale of Snow White so she comes with a princess dress and a dwarf outfit too.  

Jennifer sent me clothes and accessories as well!  There was also a tiny motorcycle but someone on my house took it right away hahaha!  Thank you Jennifer for this awesome trade! ♥

P.S. I  just realized I didn't take a photo of her opened eyes yet! I will do so as soon as I can move her into her dollhouse!

Petit Jenny Dolls

Did you ever wish for a particular doll or toy but knew you had zero chance to get it because it was not on the market anymore?  Well that's how I felt about the Petit Jenny Dolls - Set A and Petit Jenny Dolls - Set B made by Takara.  To add to the difficulty, they were only released in Japan and even there it was difficult to find them at a reasonable price.

Well about six months ago, I did see one set for sale on Ebay but could not buy it because I was busy at work and missed out on the bidding.  I nearly cried.  I didn't but I was really not happy.  I thought I would never see them again until a few weeks ago another seller put them up for sale!  

I am truly trying to not spend too much on dolls anymore but I knew I had a very slim chance to find them on the secondary market again so I plunged and bought Set B.  After I got them, I wished I had bought Set A as well because they are really incredibly cute!

The back of the box shows the dolls in their "older doll version".

Here they are outside of their box but still attached to the backdrop.

It was fairly easy to unbox the dolls.  The back of the box is very bare compared to many other doll boxes.

Here is the backdrop without the dolls.  It reminds me of Burberry's trademark plaid design.

The dolls have a plastic wrap around their head to keep their hair in place.  Each doll wears a school uniform and comes with shoes, socks, white underwear, and their own mini doll stand.

There were only two ties.  One around the neck and the other around the ankles.

The first doll wears a navy blue sailor top with a tie and pleated skirt.  Her shoes and school bag are black.  She also has an English book made of cardboard.  She has an elaborate hairstyle and her hair is smooth and silky.

Notice her blue eyes and eyeshadows.  Her lips are full and red.

The second dolls wear a graduation gown and hat with a black dress underneath, with black tights and black shoes.  Her accessories are a diploma and a red ribbon to tie around the diploma.

Her hair is a little messy but they are smooth and feel nice.  She has dark painted lips and her eyes are blue with red eyeshadows.

The third doll wears a white top attached to a plaid pleated skirt.  She comes with a white sweater and brown vest, blue socks, brown shoes, brown school bag, glasses and a book.

Her hairstyle reminds me of my Licca's hairstyle.  Her eyes brown and her lips are very pale.

The Petit Jenny dolls remind me a lot of Licca's little twin sisters Maki-chan and Miki-chan.  I took a few close-up shots of Miki-chan with each of the Petit Jenny dolls to show you their resemblance and difference.

I think Miki-chan is much cuter than the Petit Jenny dolls because she is a toddler doll whereas the Jenny Dolls are like miniature version of the older Jenny dolls. 

There is a naked body comparison.  They look almost perfectly similar.

Their feet are also the same size.

But Miki-chan's shoes are much smaller.  I think the Petit Jenny's shoes are bigger because they wear socks whereas Miki-chan is barefeet.

They swapped clothes and you can see they fit each other's clothes and shoes without any problem.

I am very happy with my purchase and I think Miki-chan is very happy to have new friends :)

Barbie 1998 Family Cottage - Update

Do you remember how excited I was about the blue 1998 Barbie Family Cottage?  It was not a complete playset and I was missing a few of the original furniture.  Well guess what ...

TA DAAAAAAAA!

I found the chair and the crib in different Ebay auctions.  The crib was part of a bigger lot but I saw it immediately and I knew it must belong to the cottage!  It looked exactly like the crib I have seen on the picture of the original box (the picture of the box is from Amazon.com).

And when I received it, I placed it in the empty storage space intended for the crib and it was indeed a perfect match!

The chair was less difficult to find.  I hesitated to buy it at first though because of the price but I eventually caved in because I have not seen any other chair like it on the market.

The crib is a little snug for Licca-chan's little sisters but they insisted on trying it :)

I tried to take more pictures but as soon as I got Miki-chan and Maki-chan out, my baby girl was all over them.  So I could only take the picture above and that was it.  My girl calls them "baby" and she loves playing with the cottage!

Don't you just love it when you find the missing pieces to your playset?  Now I am on the hunt for the missing bench and baby seat ^_^

Miki-chan and Maki-Chan

The rain started around 1am.  It was a freezing rain.  There was lightning and much thunder.  An ice storm in the middle of the night that kept me awake for a few hours. In the morning, sleet was on the roads and tree branches covered with ice were falling.  Not a happy sight but I had to go to work.  The roads were ok and kiddo did go to school so it was not as bad as I thought.  The freezing rain will continue for a few more days apparently.   

The good thing is I am finally over my cold and the kids are doing slightly better.  After they went to sleep, I managed to stay up instead of crashing in bed in complete exhaustion like it was the case lately. 

I have been wanting to show you pretty new dolls I have been hiding in my cupboard for months.  They are named Miki-chan and Maki-chan and they are Licca's twin little sisters.  According to Licca's official website, Miki and Maki are 4 years old and were born on June 12.  Miki is a tomboy while Maki is a little spoiled.   Miki has wide open eyes while Maki has droopy eyes.

I got Miki-chan and Maki-chan from an Ebay seller in China.  They were cheap at only $8 a doll including shipping. 

The box was simple and easy to open.

There were ties around their neck and feet.  It was easy to untie them.

I love the little tags/bags with their name on it!

I also bought two other dolls to be their friends: the brunette Aoi-chan and the blond boy Riku-kun.  I got them from an Ebay seller located in Japan.  They were slightly more expensive at $16 each including shipping. 

The back of the box has the same ties but no tape like Maki's and Miki's box.

Riku-kun is wearing a typical Japanese kindergarten uniform.  

He comes with a little yellow hat.

I had the four dolls for many months already but did not open them yet.  Now that I have a playroom, I decided to take them out of their box!   They are slightly too small for the playroom I had prepared for my Ai-doll.

The miniature sweets that Jennifer from PlushPussyCat sent me were the perfect size for them though.  

I think they are super cute and quite cheap so I didn't break my budget getting a few of them!  They came with adorable clothes that are easy to take off and put back on again.  Their garments are made the same way as most Licca's clothes (with the velcro closure in the back).

One thing I didn't like about them is that their movements are limited... but at least they are not as difficult to pose as Little Pullip, Little Dal and LPS Blythe!

Another aspect I didn't like is the hair.  They were awfully thin.  Aoi-chan had the worse doll hair ever!  It is crinkley and dry.  I tried washing her hair in warm water and then conditioned them but they still looked terrible!  

Pros:

• Affordable
• Easy to unbox
• Easy to dress
• Pretty clothes

Cons: 

• Bad Hair
• Limited movement options
• Definitely bad hair!

A Bedroom for Licca-Chan

About three months ago, I was determined to stop buying 1:6 scale furniture for my full-size dolls and focus on my 1:12 miniature instead but then I suddenly found out that Licca's Bedroom by Takara Tomy was on sale at $30 on Amazon.com, which is half the usual price! I just couldn't let that chance go and I click on that "PROCEED TO CHECK OUT" button pretty quickly.

I immediately started writing a post about it so other Licca fans could buy it too...and 5 minutes later I was ready to publish it my blog, I checked the link again to see if it worked properly, ...but the price had gone back to it's original amount!  I guess I was lucky to get that flash sale but it's unfortunate other people couldn't get it!

Well since the sale no longer existed, I decided to wait until the package comes so I can write a review.  It came very fast, in less than 2 weeks and it was very well packaged for shipping.  Kuddos to E-Japan (via Amazon) for doing a great job despite the fact that I paid close to nothing for shipping!  Sometimes, sellers would advertise their product and promise free shipping but the packaging is terrible and careless but it was not the case for this item!  Everything arrived in perfect condition!

Thank goodness because the house is made of cardboard.  It is not very thick cardboard and is rather flimsy.  But the colors are sweet and the design is very clever!

There is a handle on the top so it is easy to carry around

Licca dolls are only 9 inches tall compared to the 11 inches Barbie dolls so most of the used Barbie furniture I have don't really fit my Licca dolls.  I was drooling over this bedroom set for quite a long time but never thought I could buy it at such a high price tag.

The inside of the cardboard room-in-a-box is soooo pretty and colorful!

There is so much going on this side of the room!  So many details! 

The door can really open because the door outline is pre-perforated so you can swing it open.

I wish that puppy could be a real Licca toy!

Apart from the plastic furniture, there are many pieces made of cardboard in this playset.  You have to cut out each piece and build the boxes for the cabinet.  There are 3 boxes in total and the rest are magazines, notebooks, cell phone, cookies.  It would have been a lot better if the items were 3-D plastic objects.

What I like about this playset is that you can use the furniture in different ways.  The bed can become a loft bed and the cabinets can be used as support for the bed or standalone.  The vanity can become a study desk and the cabinet can transform into a wardrobe.  It's so awesome!

I like this setting very much!  A loft bed is so cute and the ladder fits perfectly against the bed.

But I like this setting even more because you can display and see better the storage cabinet.

As you can see in the photos below, Licca-chan fits perfectly in her new bedroom :)

I did not add any other accessories than the doll and her teddy bear to the bedroom set so you can see how it looks like just by itself.   But for the future, I will probably add some of my existing miniature items from Re-ment and Barbie collection to embellish the bedroom.

Takara has released a new Licca bedroom with a Hello Kitty theme!  It's exactly the same model as this bedroom but with red accents and Hello Kitty objects.  So maybe the price for this pink bedroom will go down in the future?  If I do notice it, I will blog about it so you can grab it while it's still available!
